Heritage
Having grown up on a farm in Shropshire, the rural way of life has always been in Amanda’s blood. Unfortunately though, she was not necessarily able to take part in many of her favourite, countryside activities as they were often deemed ‘unladylike’.
Determined not to let the hurdles of old fashioned values hold her back, Amanda chose to follow a career path in agriculture at a time when farming jobs for the ladies were still few and far between. She enjoyed and succeeded in her hard fought career path, eventually setting up her own rural practice managing farms, country sporting estates and rural properties. Described by one of her contemporaries as “wearing a pair of wellies like she means it”, we don’t think there could be a more fitting accolade for Amanda.
Since 2015, Amanda has been living in West Wales with her partner Arwyn and their brood of girls. It was after shooting with friends on a return visit to Shropshire that Foxy Pheasant was born. She had experienced a long period of imposed box rest, which enabled Amanda to see the countryside from a new and different perspective. “I saw the field with renewed vigour. The sights, the smells, the light had all just been part of the lifestyle. It’s not until that lifestyle is taken away from you that you really appreciate what you have”.
With this refreshed vision, Amanda began to really notice the colours of the game birds around her and from this glorious afternoon of epiphany, a more creative path beckoned her; something more suited to a middle-aged mum living in a remote location! She carved a niche for herself that combined her artistic talents with her fanatical passion for the sporting country life and that, together with her dogged determination to use her previous experiences in rural enterprise, ensured she created a design business that was truly different.
Alongside her professional career, Amanda is a keen equestrian and handler of gun dogs.
Our Legacy
With over 20 yeas previous experience in rural business under her belt it Amanda aimed to build a business that was sustainable and viable operating from a rural location and fuelled by other rural businesses.
It was Amandas vision to show that the countryside can create new and different opportunities for business and employment, by working that little bit harder to stick to these principled ethics the team at Foxy Pheasant has achieved this.
In addition to Amanda’s determination to build a truly rural brand the team actively support the following two charities and their vital work in the Countryside.
The Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust are a leading UK charity conducting conservation science to enhance the British countryside for public benefit. For over 80 years they have been researching and developing game and wildlife management techniques. GWCT use their scientific research to provide training and advice on how best to improve the biodiversity of the countryside.

Tir Dewi is a charity formed in response to growing and serious needs for someone to help the farmers of West Wales in difficult times.
