There’s enough bloody fabric in the world. Let’s make the most of what we’ve already got.

The new Foxy Pheasant starts with what already exists

I forage for fabric wherever I find it — charity shops, car boot sales, forgotten remnants, vintage scarves, odd little strips and beautiful pieces that are simply too small, too unusual or too awkward to be useful to most people.

To me, that’s where it gets interesting.

Everything comes back to the Foxy Pheasant studio, where it’s washed using Ecover detergent, dried, ironed and properly looked at.

And then I get to know it.

There isn’t a rigid design plan. I work with what I’ve found.

The size, shape, weight, print and feel of each piece usually tells me what it wants to become. A narrow length might make beautiful headbands. A larger piece could become something entirely different. Sometimes I don’t know until it’s sitting on the cutting table in front of me.

Then I make the best use I possibly can of every piece.

That might give me twelve headbands.

It might give me four.

It might give me just one.

And once that fabric is gone, it’s gone.

That means when you buy something from this collection, you’re getting a genuinely limited-edition piece — not one of 5,000 identical things sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

Something found.

Something rescued.

Something that could very easily have ended up forgotten or thrown away.

Made useful — and beautiful — all over again.

No huge production runs. No ordering miles of new fabric. No forcing a design onto a material just because that’s what was planned.

We find what already exists, see what it can become and go from there.

Anyway, that’s enough from me. Stick around to be part of the change.

There’s enough bloody fabric in the world — let’s make the most of what we’ve got.
